Many of you have heard of the TX2K and have seen some of the sick racing videos from the event, it was just announced that Chicago is getting our shot at an event titled Chi2k14!!! www.chi2k.com For those of you who have not heard about the TX2K14:
This annual gathering of horsepower-aholics began in 1999 in Houston with a few dozen cars attending. The first sponsor was MVP Motorsports (www.mvpmotorsports.com) and the event was actually named “The Supra Nationals” to celebrate Toyota’s iconic sports car and the main type of car that attended. Over the years the event has grown incredibly and now encompasses five days showcasing several events. If you like fast cars, then this is the event for you. The event includes Drag Racing, Roll Racing, Dyno Shootout, cruising and even a bikini contest!
There often tends to be some extracurricular activities at night. This year Houston Police created a sting operation and caught 9 street racers. We took the opportunity to have some fun with this news and poke a little fun at our Ford Mustang friends:
WannaGOFAST is a company that has been able to bring a new racing opportunity to the public. In the past, very few had access to races such as the Texas Mile or anything longer than the quarter mile dragstrips that are spread all over the U.S. With 600 plus horsepower street cars becoming commonplace in the last 5 years, the guys at WannaGOFAST realized that there was a need for a safe environment where car enthusiasts could let these beasts out of their cages! This Saturday and Sunday, WannaGOFAST invades Bult Field in Monee, IL for the 2nd year in a row.
Early in May, I received an email from a person named Darrian who was interested in having their 2013 ZL1 Camaro featured on ShockerRacing.com. I asked for some photos and some more details about the car and what mods had been done to the car. Darrian sent me some pics of the black fifth generation ZL1 Camaro and explained that it was stock. I thought to myself, where is the story here? Yes, the ZL1 Camaro is potent in stock form being powered by the supercharged and intercooled 6.2-liter overhead valve LSA V-8 from GM. It's rocking 580 horsepower and 556 pound-feet of torque and will hit 0-60 in 4.2 seconds but you can read about that and see pics in any Road and Track or Motor Trend magazine. I was then informed that Darrian had a photoshoot scheduled with none other than Goyk Photo and that SHE was a member of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Indy Girls Team! I began to put the puzzle pieces together and found out that Darrian Arch was also Miss Indiana Teen USA for 2013.
A couple days ago I was contacted on our Facebook page by a guy named Henry saying, "Not sure if it matter, but I have one of the old vettes that used to run with y'all." Well Henry, it matters! We always love to hear how some of the cars that have left the crew are doing! Lets face it, too many of the ShockerRacing Member cars are currently in graveyards and we are always glad to hear that one of them is still alive and well! The car he was referring to was Brandon's 2002 Blacked out C5 Z06 and he had included a photo.
ShockerRacing began working on picking a featured ride for the month of May just hours after getting off the phone with SR member C5Z06SpeedJon. Jon had called to discuss his latest plan to supercharge his Electron Blue 2002 Corvette Z06. When we starting considering our options for the Featured Ride, we realized that SR now had three boosted Electron Blue Z06 Corvettes in the club all that would be pushing 700 plus horsepower(Spdkilz, Smoothblue, C5Z06SpeedJon). All three Vettes are similar with color, power, and attitude but that's where the similarities end. They are each uniquely different and each of the three has its own story to tell. Once deciding to feature all three of the boosted Vettes, we contacted our friend Dan from Dan Joy Photography(www.facebook.com/DanJoyPhoto) to do the shoot and began our model search. We posted on Instagram(IG @ShockerRacing) and on Facebook(www.facebook.com/shockerracing) looking for models and at first we did not have the response we were looking for. Then a couple of weeks later, we received an email from Angela(IG @AngelaAngelovska) with some headshots. After reviewing her info, we decided that she was perfect for what we had in mind... and it didn't hurt that she owned a 5th Generation Camaro as well! We starting thinking that we were going to need a second model since we were going to be shooting with three vehicles and thought that adding a blonde would be a nice contrast to Angela's striking brown hair. Randomly, Angela emailed us asking if she could bring her best friend along to shoot with her. After seeing her friend, Chloe's(IG @Chloe_NH), headshots we decided that she was the perfect blonde to complement Angela and these beautiful boosted C5's.
The latest photoshoot by our friend Stephani over at Chromalusion Photography features Mandy and her 2012 Chevrolet Camaro. Mandy is a 32 year old competitive bodybuilder and owns her own business doing floral and interior design and is from Franklin, NC. She tells us that she likes cars that are fast... we took this to mean that she likes cars that resemble her... strong and sexy!!! Mandy has been an automotive enthusiast for years and surprisingly has left her Camaro stock...for now. More pics coming soon but hit the jump to see all of the pics.
When ShockerRacing decided to do a feature on this wild Z06 Corvette we knew we had to find a model for the photoshoot that would match the attitude and sexiness of the car. Enter Jamie Barwick a linemen for the Legends Football League's Chicago Bliss. We knew that since Jamie plays linemen for the LFL, that meant that not only was she strong but also beautiful... just like Tom's fully built 2002 C5 Corvette Z06.
