Shelby Wolf and Lauren Samuhel; A New Year and a New Friendship
Written by James Anderson Sunday, 28 December 2014 15:46
This is a photoshoot that almost never happened... for a good part of 2014 there has been a divide between many of the Mustang girls on Instagram(IG). IG has become a thriving community for female automotive enthusiasts and the Mustang ladies make up an overwhelming part of this community. The divide left Shelby Wolf(@ashelbycobragirl) and Lauren Samuhel(@lil50monster) on opposite sides of the situation. Both of these ladies are strong, intelligent and loyal women that truly have a love for cars and the entire automotive world. Lucky for us, all of the women made the effort recently to get together and discuss their differences and put an end to their beef! Lauren said it best, "Sometimes negative situations can rotate the tires in sour relationships and provide opportunities for us to work together. I'm extremely grateful that I and a lot of fellow female Mustang enthusiasts have been able to reevaluate each other and grow as a unit. I think it's important to tap the brakes every once in a while and take the time to communicate. Someone you thought to be your worst enemy could end up being a huge blessing."
From enemies, to friends and now a mentor and a mentee. Shelby is a veteran in the Mustangs and modeling world. The Farmington Arkansas resident has been featured in Top Floor Magazine and has countless automotive photoshoots under her belt. She has been a big supporter of ShockerRacing and the ShockerRacingGirls and is someone that is an asset to the automotive world. Whether Shelby is looking amazing posing next to a car, cruising a Mustang or even wrenching on them she is always giving her whole heart. Lauren grew up learning about cars and being taught how to maintain them by her dad but didn't really get into the car scene until a couple years ago when she picked up her 2011 Mustang 5.0 and started attending races. She had taken iPhone photos with her Mustang before but until this photoshoot had no modeling experience. Shelby knew that Lauren had been interested in doing some modeling so after they worked through their differences and began talking more they decided to book a photoshoot. Using her contacts, Shelby enlisted photographer Kody Robinson(@kody5ive0) to do the shoot and was excited to pass along her experience to Lauren. They set a date and decided to shoot with Lauren's 2011 5.0 Mustang, Kody's 2015 5.0 and Evan Brice's(@evanbrice09) Terminator Cobra! The day of the shoot ended up being a cold and rainy December morning so they headed to a nearby parking garage. A quick wipe down of the cars once inside the garage and then they started to work their magic.
ShockerRacing.com(SR) interviewed both ladies so that we could take some time to get to know each of them better. We'll start with Shelby's interview:
SR: What do you do for a living?
Shelby: I'm in business management and also do some bartending.
SR: What was your first car?
Shelby: I had a 1972 Mustang Grande with a 351 Cleveland.
SR: What kind of car do you currently drive?
Shelby: I am currently driving a White 2002 Mustang GT.
SR: What is your dream car?
Shelby: My dream car would be a Terminator Mustang Cobra
SR: How did you get involved in the car scene?
Shelby: My dad was a mechanic for Ford. It's in my genes!
SR: What is your favorite automotive event of the year?
Shelby: Mustang Week of course!
SR: What modeling experience do you have?
Shelby: My first shoot was with my 2002 Roush Mustang to promote my car club Robin Coley and I started. I was discovered by Eddie McDaniels who worked for Top Floor Magazine and I've since traveled all over California, Arkansas and Florida among many other places doing shoots.
SR: What is your best asset?
Shelby: My loyalty towards others within the Mustang family and modeling business!
SR: What is your biggest pet peeve?
Shelby: I hate liars and cheaters!
SR: Can you share any other fun info with us?
Shelby: I have owned 6 different Mustangs in my lifetime and each one is very special to me. I love cars in general, racing cars, going to shows or just cruising with my fellow Stang family. My stress reliever is the automotive scene. I truly enjoy modeling and positively promoting Mustangs.
Interview with Lauren Samuhel, the 23 year old Arkansas native:
SR: What was your first car?
Lauren: My first car was a 1999 Toyota Camry
SR: What do you drive now?
Lauren: I drive a black 2011 5.0 Mustang. It's a base model with an automatic. I have modded it with Boss/CS Lower Front Fascia with fogs, billet grille, projector and halo headlights with LED's. I added a BMC Manta Ray Ram Air Hood, Airaid CAI, 18" gloss black AMR Wheels wrapped in Nitto's, a GT500 Spoiler, MMD Trunk Emblem Surround, American Muscle's taillight covers and a Roush axle-back exhaust with a resonator delete.
SR: What is your dream car?
Lauren: A black 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake
SR: How did you get involved in the car scene?
Lauren: I grew up changing the oil and rotating the tires on all of my family's vehicles with my dad. He's not that big into cars but he did want me to know how to take care of them. I remember seeing a Ford Mustang in town one day when I was nine years old. I knew then that I had to have one some day. When I picked up my first Mustang in February 2011, I jumped into the car scene by finding races, learning more about modding my car, connecting with fellow enthusiasts through social media and meeting up with Mustang buddies in town for shows and cruises.
SR: What is your favorite automotive event of the year?
Lauren: Although I haven't had a chance to attend yet, I love hearing stories and seeing photos of the annual Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach. It's a great thing when a passion brings so many people together and I hope I get to be a part of that someday soon.
SR: What is your best asset?
Lauren: My smile :)
SR: What is your biggest pet peeve?
Lauren: Nail biting makes me crazy!
SR: What is your favorite food?
Lauren: Any sort of pasta!
SR: What else can you tell us about yourself Lauren?
Lauren: My education is very important to me. Alongside obtaining my car, I worked very hard to receive my Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design. A fantasy of mine would be to design the interior of Ford Headquarters.
